Darren Carter today urged Albion to embrace the future without Jason Koumas and Diomansy Kamara by insisting: “There’s life without them.”

The Baggies soldier on without the pair against Hajduk Split tonight at the end of a week Kamara moved to Fulham and Koumas to Wigan for a combined £11.3m.

Carter admits the Albion squad only have themselves to blame for the duo being allowed to move on because of their failure to win promotion back to the Premiership last season.

But after starting the last campaign without them – Kamara was out injured with a broken foot while Koumas was on strike trying to force a move to Cardiff – Carter insists there is still plenty of quality in the squad to cope with their absence.

“Joe and Koumy will be sorely missed because they’re fantastic players,” said Carter. “They’re good enough for the Premiership and that’s where they should be playing.

“No one can fault them for moving on and we wish them all the best.

Windfall

“But we’ve got to get on with it because that’s football.

“We failed to make the Premiership last year and we’ve got to deal with the consequences.

“We’ll have to do without Joe and Jason, but we’ve got Craig Beattie and Shelton Martis in and they’re two good players who will add to the squad.

“On the back of two departures we’ve got two fresh faces in and maybe more to come to start the season.

“Whoever comes in will only be for the good of the club and help us push for the Premiership.

“We will stick together as a group and hopefully achieve things.”

Boss Tony Mowbray is certain to use the windfall to plug the gaps left by the loss of Kamara and Koumas.

Talks remain ongoing with Portuguese midfielder Felipe Teixeira as the Baggies boss looks to recruit half a dozen new faces, while fresh speculation has linked Albion with Preston defender Matt Hill.

Well said Carter, maybe this is the start of the new togetherness Mobs is trying to instill, i think the fans will get behind the team as long as we see some investment going back into the squad. I notice the so called signing of Teixere is now dragging on (surprise surprise).

I have said on previous baggies boards that I think both Carter and Chappy will have good seasons this year - both are young and still developing but with the support of Greening, Koran and maybe Gera - plus maybe a new face or two, the midfield is looking good.

We have a few options up front now and I expect to see at least one extra addition to the strikers, and To Mo will definately get the defence sorted -it’s starting to look good guys.

Just read that the Doggies have lost a player who wants to step up - to BRISTOL !!! Bet they all say he was rubbish now - still £400k is good for a dog head.!!

Sorry happy baggie, i often agree with you, but i feel Chaplow is one of the worst players at the club, he cant tackle, pass, shoot, and isnt a dead ball specialist. He is a bit headless chicken to me, but football is all about opinions. I think he will be the midfielder to miss out on the 16 for most of this season.
One player i hope we see more of this season is Jared Hodgkiss, he looks technically neat and tidy, gets forward into good positions, and isnt reckless in the tackle.

wbabomber - couldn’t agree more. I have seen Chappy have some horrendous games for us, but he does show flashes of quality - he just needs to direct his energy better - but as i say, he is still young & learning. But he is the one most likely to miss out. Hodgkiss could be the player we need to stregthen our defence and may possibly get his chance this year… lots of positives to look forward to methinks.

the davies thing how does the agent dictate the price ,10% of a fee is better than the player staying, why sign a contract if you dont want to stay, should the agent shut up!!!!!!!!!!!anyway market forces will dictate the price mido in swap will do!!!!

What are the wuffs doing on the ALBION pages? Get a life! I was so gutted to see the two K’s go but we expected it. Lets just hope that things calm down and the other want-aways will realise that they can hit the jack-pot next season with the “Mighty Albion”.

Bring in a few more new faces, close the transfer window and we’ll be on our way.

Respect as always - to all the blue and white army up and down the country and all over the world.

THERE ONCE WAS A TEAM IN OLD GOLD
    WHOS PREDICTIONS WERE OFTEN BOLD
BUT WHEN IT CAME TO THE CRUNCH
    OLD MICK HAD A HUNCH
THAT HIS TEAM WOULD CONTINUE TO FOLD

He knew that a player or two
when added to his team wouldn’t do
    he said to his boss
if I sell this old dross
and we please wear a shirt white and blue

His boss said Mick i must say
I never thought I would see the day
    when a peanut like you
would love stripes white and blue
and watch a team who really can play.

    Love fridays me !!

  20. Happy_Baggie said:

Mick said yes it is true
I dream of a team white and blue
where we score lots of goals
without a defense full of holes
and a ground that don’t smell like a loo.

Thats it - I’m going home now. Bye bye
