Freddy Eastwood will sign for Wolves in the next few days, says the Express & Star’s Martin Swain.
The 23-year-old Southend striker, with an immediate choice of either Wolves or Norwich, has made it clear he wants to come to Molineux.
And, with relegated Southend now acknowledging that the battle to keep their star man is lost, the Eastwood camp fully expect his switch to Wolves to go through next week.

eastwood best player in league 1 and now gonna be best player in championship up the wolves
Hooray ! A good old fashioned Striker with a bit of ‘go get em’ about him ! I think that if Mick gets him and Sharp or Lafferty then Wardy and Bothroyd are gonna have a real hard time getting anywhere near the first team and lets face it, he’s not about to drop Keogh who’s one of the hardest working players I’ve seen at Molineux in a good number of years.
Good news!
I wouldn’t right off Bothroyd or Ward yet though. JB has a huge potential, technically excellent but needs his ‘teamwork’
and ‘commitment’ sorted. I am sure MM will get him going next year! Ward as lots to learn, but looks to have the potential.
Striker’s top form doesn’t last long and with injuries we need at least 4, even 5! 2 playing, 1 on bench, 1 injured, 1 out of form.
Just hope we have the same riches in defence for next season. This is definetly where we are weakest.
agree with big bad wolf, maybe jb last chance, mick wont muck about with him, look at youtube wouldnt say eastwood is a old fashioned centre forward, the guy is quality, pens, freekicks and some great individual goals.
JB, Keogh, Ward, (Eastwood)(Lafferty) AND (Sharp)
Fantastic prospect - BUT Can we have some decent defenders with some pace pleeeeeeeeeese!!!
Pant wetting session over - Phew!
Trust in MM - We know it makes sense!!!
Up the Wolves!!!
eastwood n sharp up front with keogh just behind would be amaing
WOLVES 4 THE PREM
I don’t agree that it will be Bothroyd ‘looking in’, at the moment he is better than Ward who is one for the future - I think Ward may go out on loan and Bothroyd stay as a back-up or sub.
does this mean we have lost billy sharp? freddy is proven which is quality but billy just looks perfect for wolves.
Eastwoods the man, and keogh is our 2nd striker on the pitch.
Sharpe or Lafferty (dont know much about him), will be fighting for a starting roll with JB.No sentiment in footy; wardy will be off on loan, with JJ out of the door. Whose this LEDLEY wales left back ? Who does he play for. Looked “ace”..
Eastwood would be a great signing!
15 league goals in a team as poor as Southend shows his quality.
I think Bob Crachet has it spot on. Eastwood with Keogh. Sharp will be fighting Eastwood for the place but he has more to prove than Eastwood. Lafferty and Ward I reckon are prospects for the future. Boothroyd won’t go yet, he’ll be looking for chances if Eastwood, Sharp or Keogh aren’t fit or in form.
That’s assuming we sign any of the above.I’m still not yet convinced we will sign Sharp or Lafferty… or even Eastwood! How many times have we missed out over the last few years? I hope we aren’t counting chickens again!
ledley at cardiff bob! i think lafferty is more who we should aim at as cant see sharp coming! i would love sharp but look scuthorpe holdin out for more money and taking their time! we need to look else where as well as keeping tabs on sharp
b & t, strikers are most sought after position look most transfers at moment, they are strikers! we will get defenders after, although we need to make sure we leave ourselves time to secure them
Great newspaper. The Express & Star. Got everybody going hasn’t it. Where did Martin Swain get this info. The Sun has it we’re paying 1.5. Will it won’t it? Sometimes this end of season speculation can be more exciting than a whole season of football. Show us something different MM
Can’t see us signing both Eastwood and Sharp, but don’t write off Bothroyd just yet. Undoubtly the most talented player in this division and possibly the lasiest. If Merlin can get stuck into Bothroyd then we will save ourselves at least £3m.
we8wba we appreciate that we really need strikers who can finish as we badly needed that last season and it was clear to see
But we also feel that defence also let us down - last seasons goals against tally is testimony to that - Matty Murray gave us points last season when but our keeper really needs better support this time around
We have to agree with Spanish Wolf as it has been reported today on SSN that Naaarwich have expressed an “interest” in Sharp and Eastwood - so IF the E & S have a “source” can they clarify what makes Mr Swain so sure? Or is it a case of “sauce” and no substance?
Hopefully its true but we shall see in due course!
Up the Wolves!!!
Excellent news regarding Freddie Eastwood.
What we need is a couple of defenders.
Wolves till I die.

Great news on Freddie Eastwood
greg
MICK McCarthey has done a wonderful job at wolves to bring them from relagation fighters to promotion pushers up the merlin EOLVES FOR PREM NEXT SEASON
Pip, I never said Eastwood is and old fashioned centre forward, i know he’s quality, I meant that he’s got the drive and determination like a certain Ex Number 9 to go out there and do all he can to get the goals. Bigbadwolf, I’m not knocking Wardy, I’m simply saying that with more strikers about the place, the competition for places will be much tougher but I disagree with both you and pip on Bothroyd, the guy is lazy and overpaid and needs a serious kick up the backside. He’s got a fantastic left peg and he showed that on the odd occasion (anyone remember Leeds away last september ?) but lets be honest, what is an ex Premiership striker like Bothroyd doing in the championship ? he aint good enough for us nevermind Charlton, Blackburn or Perugia and then there’s fact that he started at Arsenal. He was sold for 100k. Arsenal dont sell QUALITY strikers for 100k. He was looking for an easy ride in a lesser team when he came into the championship, that much was obvious. If he matched his workrate to that of Andy Keogh, we’d have a 20+ a season front man, yeah he scored 10 goals but then so did Olly, from midfield and Kightly from wide. Sorry guys, I’m a Wardy fan but Bothroyd is living on borrowed time, especially now that we have strikers on their way in.
Great all credit to wolves for some speculation to whom we are interested in signing i would say once again our targets were planned a long time ago and 1 of them freddy eastwood has signed wolves will be the envy of everyone in the championship i am very confident we can sign 99% of our targets wolves are 1 of the best run clubs in football
Eastwood & Lafferty definately coming to Wolves plus a left sided midfielder.
Also MM looking at Defenders as well.
HAVE FAITH MM knows exactly what he is doing, were are on the march again. Premiership here we come.
we are good, having a bid accepted without even bidding for Eastwood, Moxey is god!
Southend manager today (quoted) as saying the story is rubbish and that our one and only offer (which was actually 1.5mill) was rejected.
Should be an interesting few days.
Scott Cooper on the unofficial Wolves site reports that Steve Tilson says Wolves’ £1.5m offer was our first and has been turned down, and that the E&S story that Eastwood will be signing for Wolves in a few days is rubbish.
IMO, we are going to sign only one striker. Wolves’ first choice is Billy Sharp, for whom we have bid £1.8m; our second is Freddy Eastwood, £1.5m; and our third, Kyle Lafferty. We will sign whoever we can first get yeses from (from both club and player). Period. Wolves are not going to collect strikers like postage stamps!
And prepare yourselves for failing with all three, and having to settle for someone like Jamie Ward of Chesterfield or an unknown (to us) from Scotland (or wherever).
Speculation speculation, guys just chill, expect signings this week to put these stories to bed.
More speculation than fact it seems. If we buy everyone we’ve been linked too so far this summer we’ll be spending more than 30 million!
Nippy Lobo comment is correct, tilson has confirmed wolves only made one bid of 750k rejectd and they havnt heard anymore and wont sell a proven goal scorer for 1.5m
My problem here is with the Express & Star. Their story that a fee had been agreed with Eastwood due to sign in days was obviously made up just to sell more copies of the paper (I wonder if they’ll block this post!).
When are we all going to stop relying on what the E&S says. Over the last few years it has acted more and more like the tabloids in making stuff up.
We should (as paying supporters to Wolves) have more of ‘Whats going on’ from the club, yet again this is the fault of Moxey, he has no feelings for football fans just hard cash and getting in players as cheap as possible.
Fans have forgotten about him.
Moxey out!
Keith, Moxey is protecting the interestes of the club, by negotiating the best price for your hard earned season ticket sale.
If you want him to throw away your seaon ticket money on another Carl Cort or Paul Butler then your welcome too it. I would much sooner him be fruggle and get the right man at the right price.
There are plenty of fish in the see and Mick has a good eye for them.
Moxey has not let us down before in the transfer market and will not in the future.
Franky as the exception. But that was Hoddles fault and Moxey made that clear before signing him by saying ” this is the manager decision and we have to back him”.
Apart from pie and a pint what has Moxey done wrong. FACTS not your emaotions or opinions towards the man.
