Lights prompt UFO reports

More than 10 separate UFO sightings across the West Midlands have been reported to military bosses in recent years it has emerged.

Today the Express & Star reveals bizarre details of the reports, such as “a bright round light that moved in steps” in Tipton.

Reports have been lodged with the Ministry of Defence from places across the region including Dudley, Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Barlaston in Staffordshire, Walsall and Oldbury. And they may have prompted military chiefs to check whether they were a threat to the UK’s airspace.

One report from Walsall in March 2006 described “a UFO doing funny sharp turns over a field.” Another unexplained sighting in Dudley, reported in December 2006, simply described “a white light”.

Back in August 2005 someone in Lichfield reported that they had seen “an object that was circular with a dull orange colour/light that was the size of a medium aircraft.” And in Wolverhampton an RAF sergeant reported seeing “two triangular shaped objects” in 2003.

Once submitted to military officials the reports are examined, with the assistance of air defence experts as required.

Unless there is evidence of a potential threat to the UK from an external military source, the MOD does not attempt to identify the precise nature of each sighting.

The MOD says many of the sightings could be rooted in down to earth explanations such as aircraft lights or natural phenomena.

A MOD spokesman said:”The Ministry of Defence examines any reports of ‘UFO’ sightings it receives solely to establish whether what was seen might have some defence significance; namely is there any evidence that the UK’s airspace might have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised foreign military activity.”

None of the UFO sightings had revealed evidence of a potential threat, she said.

I recently read an article elsewhere that basically gave the impression the MOD denied the existence of UFOs altogether. Saying they have no proven defense significance is perhaps closer to the truth. Given thousands, even millions of people worldwide every year, who see unidentified areal phenomena. Denying the existence of UFOs is a bit like denying the existence of Volkswagens.

Plus i saw a UFO about 4 years ago. i was on my way home from a karate lesson and looked out of the rear window of the car and saw a light in the distance. i was watching this light as it started moving, it moved so fast that it was above the car in less than 2 seconds. at first i couldn’t think of anything on the planet that moves that fast, and to this day i still can’t.

August 1989 we stopped the car and the four of us got out to watch this big triangular ship pass over us near a quarry. It looked as if it was following the course of the river between Rugeley and Kings Bromley. There were other reported sightings that night. We know what we saw - and we hadnt just been watching Star Wars.

I don’t know why people make such a fuss, encounters with these beings are recorded from several thousand years ago and are recorded in world wide folklore.

The dictionary defines the word Unidentified as unspecific, undetermined, undefined or unclear,
while not necessarily Alien it would be more difficult to prove UFO’s don’t exist than it is to prove they do and as already pointed out, sightings have been recorded world wide. But for the Debunkers, Absence of Evidence is Evidence of Absence.

With respect to the 1993 “Cosford incident”, most of th reports from that night are explained, see:

    http://www.uk-ufo.org/cosford

You will find a link from there to a certain ex-civil servant’s site which tries to put an extraterrestrial spin on the events of that night - note there is no reciprocal link (he isn’t as confident that his story stands up to scrutiny as I am that my story does).

It is a pity, because after all of the explained sightings are removed, we are left with some very interesting reports which merit serious study. There is so much rubbish in circulation that you can’t see the wood for the trees.

‘None of the UFO sightings had revealed evidence of a potential threat, she said.’

    Sure..why shouldn’t we believe you?
