Annette looks bonza in ad

wd2119207sheilas-2-ts-17.jpgA mother-of-two is all geared up to be stopped in the street by fans as she gets ready to star in a new TV advert for Sheilas’ Wheels.

Thrilled Willenhall businesswoman Annette Price-Porter knocked the judges for six when she successfully auditioned for a part in the catchy car insurance commercial.

She was among 11,500 hopefuls who applied for a chance to sit in the pink Cadillac and sing the Sheilas’ Wheels jingle which have helped to raise the company’s profile.

Petite Mrs Price-Porter, aged 43, applied to audition as a favour for a friend she was trying to cheer up.

She explained: “I have a friend who was down in the dumps and she said we ought to go for it. I did mine on-line and answered the tie-breaker question, but a few days later it emerged my friend hadn’t applied.

“Then I had a letter from Sheilas’ Wheels saying I had almost made the final 50 and asked me to submit some more pictures. Then about a week later I was told I’d made to the last 50 and was invited to the audition.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it and about a week after that I had a letter saying I had  made the final 30 and would be appearing in the advert.

“I was absolutely thrilled to bits. Out of the 11,500 who applied I had actually made it .”

The self-employed marketing agent, of Swale Grove, who has recently celebrated her birthday travelled to Surrey for a five day shoot. She was given the red carpet treatment and found  a big bouquet of flowers and a goody hamper waiting in her hotel room when she arrived.

“It was absolutely fantastic. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and I will never forget it. It’s been a nice birthday present.”

And she said her friend Lorraine Smith, of Pendeford, had been over the moon for her.

Sheilas’ Wheels spokeswoman Asia Manzoor said: “Annette’s Sheila factor  shone through at the Make Me A Sheila Star auditions and at Shepperton Studios during the filming of the new Sheilas’ Wheels advert which is due to air this month.”

I can’t believe she is forty-three. I had to look at the picture again. At first look I thought she was in her twentys. Whatever it is she is doing to stay looking young I hope she let us in on the secret. Great story. Best of luck to her in her future endeavours.
